Ongoing freeway construction has prompted the following closures for Fort Worth motorists. They extend from 9 p.m. Wednesday Dec.9 through 5 a.m. Thursday Dec. 10:
·         All lanes of eastbound Loop 820 at the Interstate 35W/820 interchange will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to Meacham Boulevard.
·         The direct connector from northbound I-35W to eastbound 820 will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to Meacham Boulevard.
·         The direct connector from northbound I-35W to westbound 820 will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to Basswood Boulevard.
·         The direct connector from southbound I-35W to eastbound 820 will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to Meacham Boulevard.
·         The direct connector from westbound 820 to northbound I-35W will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to FM 156.
·         All lanes of eastbound and westbound 28th Street at I-35W will be closed. Eastbound traffic will be redirected to Northside Drive, and westbound traffic will be redirected to 33rd Street.
·         All lanes of northbound and southbound I-35W at 28th Street will be closed. Northbound and southbound traffic will be redirected along the frontage roads.
Meanwhile, the extended closure of the southbound I-35W exit to Papurt Drive begins today (Dec. 9), with the extended closure of the entrance to northbound I-35W from 28th Street beginning on Thursday Dec. 10.
Construction is part of the $1.4 billion North Tarrant Express 35W project, which includes a segment ranked sixth on the state’s most congested roadway list. The segment stretches along 6.5 miles of I-35W from north of Interstate 30 to north of Loop 820 including the I-35W/820 interchange in Fort Worth. The project includes reconstructing the main lanes and the addition of TEXpress managed lanes.
