North Main detour

North Main detour

Drivers who normally take North Main Street will need to take a different route once construction on the North Main Street bridge begins in April.

The city is redirecting traffic to accommodate the project, asking drivers to take a detour through North Commerce Street between Northeast Seventh and Northeast Eleventh Streets.

The North Main Street bridge is the last of three bridges being constructed as part of the $909.9 million Trinity River Vision project. The other bridges run along Henderson Street and White Settlement Road. The bridges will connect Panther Island to the mainland, and a bypass channel built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will run underneath.

City Manager Jay Chapa said in February that all three bridges should be complete by 2018.Â
