Residents are invited to learn more about construction on three bridges planned to serve as gateways to Fort Worth’s Panther Island.
The Monday Aug. 4 open house is set for 6-7:30 p.m. in the activities room of the Fort Worth Police and Fire Training Academy, 1000 Calvert St.
Attending the meeting will be representatives of the city, state and the Trinity River Vision. They will explain upcoming construction schedules and traffic detours involving bridges planned for Henderson and North Main streets and White Settlement Road. Construction is expected to reach completion in 2018.
The Texas Department of Transportation awarded a $65.5 million contract to Texas Sterling Construction in a joint project involving the city of Fort Worth, Trinity River Vision Authority, Tarrant County, the Army Corps of Engineers and the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
Bridge construction will change transportation patterns along White Settlement, Henderson and North Main. Beginning in mid-August, traffic along Henderson Street north of downtown will be detoured, and detours on the other two streets will follow, according to a city news release. Traffic will be rerouted either on newly constructed detour roads or by using existing streets.
On Henderson Street and North Main, a reroute will be in place directly next to the existing roadway to ensure limited traffic interruption.
