With $740 million in state funds allotted for Dallas-Fort Worth transportation projects, the public is invited to share their outlook on those endeavors recently approved by the Texas Transportation Commission.
An Arlington meeting is set for 2:30 p.m. Monday July 14 at North Central Texas Council of Government offices, 616 Six Flags Drive, Arlington. And a Dallas meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. July 17 at Dallas City Hall, council chambers, 1500 Marilla St., Dallas.
Projects that received funding include those involving state highways 114 and 170, Interstate 35W and Interstate 345. A loan for the North Texas Tollway Authority’s extension of Texas 360 between Sublett Road/Camp Wisdom Road and U.S. 287 also was approved.
In partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation, the North Central Texas Council of Governments will provide an update on the funding and projects at two meetings.
Using transportation development credits, or TDCs (a tool regions may use to complete transportation projects), the Regional Transportation Council hopes to gain maximum available revenue for those projects.
Residents are expected to hear an update on the speed limit changes for area highways recently identified by TxDOT. With the elimination of “environmental speed limits,” maximum speeds on many area freeways outside the urban core area, which includes downtown Fort Worth and downtown Dallas, could soon be adjusted.
