The West Seventh Street Bridge closes at 8 p.m. Friday June 7, weather permitting, allowing project contractor Sundt Construction Inc. up to 150 days to erect the remaining arches and the new bridge deck. The bridge, estimated to cost $25.9 million, is expected to reopen before Thanksgiving. During the closure, motorists will be detoured to Lancaster Avenue. White Settlement Road also can be used as an alternate route through the area. The Texas Department of Transportation designed the structure with six arch spans across the Trinity River to improve safety and pedestrian-bicycle access. The original bridge was built in 1913.
