Small plane lands on Arlington freeway

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — A small plane towing an advertising banner has made an emergency landing on a Texas freeway interchange after experiencing engine trouble.

A Federal Aviation Administration statement says the single-engine Cessna landed in the Interstate 20-U.S. 287 interchange in Arlington in North Texas about 5 p.m. Friday.

The plane had been towing the banner when the pilot told air traffic controllers he had lost oil pressure. The pilot said he would drop the banner and make an emergency landing.

The aircraft landing in the green space of the interchange but hit a pickup truck on one of the ramps. An Arlington police statement says one person in the truck suffered minor injuries when the wing smashed the truck’s windshield.
