Traffic around JFK slaying scene in Dallas closed for movie

DALLAS (AP) — Street traffic around downtown Dallas’ Dealey Plaza, where President John Kennedy was shot and killed this month in 1963, is being shut to accommodate a Rob Reiner-directed film about Kennedy’s successor, Lyndon Johnson.

City officials say the filming of the movie “LBJ,” with Woody Harrelson in the title role, means traffic most of Monday will be closed around the plaza. The production company has been working with Dallas police to minimize inconveniences.

Although roads are shut, officials say parking garages and businesses will be open. Pedestrian traffic won’t be blocked but the film set is closed to the public.

Officials are advising that live blank gunfire will be heard periodically.

Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jeffrey Donovan also have starring roles in the movie about the political upheaval following Kennedy’s assassination.
