Truck hits Texas bridge, debris strikes car, killing child

SEALY, Texas (AP) — Investigators say a 12-year-old girl riding in the front seat of a car was killed when part of a Central Texas highway bridge collapsed after being hit by a truck.

Investigators say a truck struck the U.S. 90 overpass on Texas 36 Thursday morning, raining concrete debris onto a car.

Sealy police identified the girl who died as Brien Bullock. Her mother, 35-year-old Leah Bullock, was driving the car. Assistant Chief Jay Reeves says the mother and the truck driver, 72-year-old Carl Weige, were injured.

A child in the car’s back seat, 9-year-old Breanbon Gardner, was not injured.
