TxDOT prepares for work on 157 and Division Street in Arlington

One of the busiest traffic areas in Tarrant County is getting a makeover.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has begun a $6.4 million pavement overlay project for sections of FM 157 (Cooper and Collins streets), and State Highway 180 (Division Street) in Arlington. This project will remove existing pavement, repair the roadway, and lay a new asphalt road surface.

All paving activities will be restricted to 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. However, single-lane closures will be permitted for miscellaneous preparation activities between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The work, which officials say will improve seven miles of roadway, is anticipated to be completed by the end of this year.

TxDOT will utilize two paving crews in hopes of reducing traffic delays. One crew will work on Division Street between Fielder Road and 360, while another crew is assigned to Collins Street. Once work on Collins Street has been completed, that crew will move to an area of Cooper Street near the University of Texas at Arlington.

Information about this and other TxDOT construction project is available on TxDOT’s Fort Worth District webpage, https://www.txdot.gov/inside-txdot/district/fort-worth.html.
