Ongoing freeway construction is expected to cause traffic delays with the Interstate 35W/Loop 820 interchange remaining closed for the weekend.
From 9 p.m. Friday March 18 through 10 a.m. Saturday March 19, the direct connector from eastbound I-30 to northbound I-35W will be closed. Traffic will be redicted to Rosedale street. But that’s only the beginning. Other closures are:
Friday March 18, 9 p.m. to 10 a.m.
· Rolling full freeway closures are planned for:
Eastbound Loop 820 at the I-35W/820 interchange.
The direct connector from northbound I-35W to eastbound 820.
· The direct connector from westbound 820 to northbound I-35W. Traffic will be redirected to FM 156.
· The direct connector from northbound I-35W to westbound 820 will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to Basswood Boulevard.
· The direct connector from eastbound 820 to southbound I-35W will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to Haltom Road.
· The direct connector from eastbound I-30 to northbound I-35W will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to Rosedale Street.
· The on-ramp to the eastbound I-820 TEXpress lanes from northbound I-35W will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to the next entrance at Riverside Drive from the eastbound I-820 general purpose lanes.
Saturday March 19, 9 p.m. to 10 a.m.
· The on-ramp to the eastbound I-820 TEXpress lanes from northbound I-35W will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to the next entrance at Riverside Drive from the eastbound 820 general purpose lanes.
· The direct connector from northbound I-35W to westbound I-820 will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to Basswood Boulevard.
Sunday March 20, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
· All lanes of northbound I-35W at the 820/I-35W interchange will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to Denton Highway 377.
· The direct connector from northbound I-35W to westbound 820 will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to Denton Highway 377.
Monday March 21, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
· The direct connector from eastbound Spur 280 to northbound I-35W will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to Rosedale Street.
The northbound I-35W exit to Beach Street is tentatively scheduled to re-open Sunday March 20.
The work is part of the $1.4 billion North Tarrant Express 35W project. The project includes a section ranked sixth on the state’s most congested roadway list along 6.5 miles of I-35W from north of I-30 to north of I-820, including the I-35W/I-820 interchange in Fort Worth. The project includes reconstructing the main lanes and the addition of TEXpress managed lanes.
