With the untimely passing of Board Chair, Cathy Hirt, the Foundation for the Young Women’s Leadership Academy of Fort Worth has elected Debby Stein to the position of Chair. Other officers include Daphne Brookins, Vice Chair; Haily Summerford, Secretary; Sharon Croxton, Treasurer; and Deborah Ferguson Past Chair. Board Members are Chelsea Alexander, Tracey Amaya, Renee Baker Arrington, Jennifer Giddings Brooks, Lisa Dryden, Monica Fowler, Charlene Hurst, Tiesa Leggett, Tanya Hart Little, Winjie Tang Miao, Whitley Poyser, Betsy Romero, Tiffany Smith, Angel Williams, and YWLA Principal Mia Hall. Michael Steinert and Shane Woods represent Fort Worth Independent School District, the Foundation’s public partner. Lynn McBee and Patty Leyendecker, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Development Officer, respectively, represent the Young Women’s Preparatory Network. YWPN is the founding organization of YWLA and its six sister schools located throughout Texas. YWPN, formerly the Foundation for the Education of Young Women, was started with a generous donation from its founders, Lee and Sally Posey.

The Foundation for the Young Women’s Leadership Academy of Fort Worth raises funds for enhancement programs that supplement classroom and extracurricular experiences for each student at YWLA. Funding for these programs amplifies the impact of the public investment made by the Fort Worth Independent School District.
