Newsmakers: Medical City Fort Worth names chief medical, nursing officers

Medical City Fort Worth has named Terry Loftus as chief medical officer and Damita J. Williams as chief nursing officer, the company announced in a news release.

“Both of these posts are key positions on our hospital’s leadership team, assisting Medical City Fort Worth in continuing its commitment to clinical excellence and quality patient experience,” Medical City Fort Worth CEO Jyric Sims said in the release.

Loftus is board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care, is a trauma surgeon and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgery.

He has a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s in business from Arizona State University and his medical degree from the University of Arizona. He completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Utah and a trauma surgery and surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Maryland’s R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Loftus previously was president of Loftus Health. He also has held medical leadership positions at Banner Health in Arizona and was chief medical officer at Banner Boswell Medical Center.

Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing, a master’s in nursing administration, a master’s in advanced leadership studies and a doctorate in organizational leadership.

She is also certified in executive nursing practice and served on the Maternal Child Health Council for the American Hospital Association and the Diversity Council of the American Organization of Nurse Executives.

Williams will lead the nursing team at Medical City Fort Worth. She most recently was chief nursing officer at the Methodist Hospital campus in San Antonio.

Cliburn appoints directors

for marketing, communications

Jacques Marquis, the president and CEO of The Cliburn, has announced that Maggie Estes, Cliburn director of marketing and public relations since April 2010, has been named director of communications and digital content. Kim Blouin, previously vice president of strategic development at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, was named director of marketing.

“With five million webcast views and a viral reach of more than 110 million during the three weeks of the 2017 competition, The Cliburn is looking to build on its current momentum and plan for continued growth,” Marquis said in a news release.

“With their expertise, enthusiasm and passion for the Cliburn mission, both of these professionals will help us increase audiences here and globally, explore new sources of earned revenue, and enhance our digital presence,” he said.

Estes will plan and oversee branding, media relations, publications, digital content and all other communications.

At the Star-Telegram, Blouin directed community marketing and revenue efforts. Her new job will include building on The Cliburn’s advertising and marketing plan, increasing local and regional audiences, and seeking new sources of revenue and visibility.

The Cliburn – named for the late Van Cliburn of Fort Worth – is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing classical piano music through international competitions, education programs and concert series. The Cliburn also provides winning artists with career management and concert bookings.

The next Van Cliburn International Piano Competition is scheduled for May/June 2021.

BANKING & FINANCE

Premier Bank Texas, a branch of Providence Bank with locations in Missouri, has added Priscilla Rangel Dejesus as assistant vice president, banking center manager. She will be responsible for the management and supervision of the banking center employees at Premier Bank Texas’ Grapevine Banking Center and the continued business development of the Tarrant County market.

Fort Worth-based KMG, a global provider of specialty chemicals and performance materials, announced that Margaret C. (Peggy) Montana will join the board of directors Dec. 1. She is a former senior executive at Shell Oil Co. with substantial international and operational experience in the pipeline and energy markets.

FUNERAL SERVICES

Greenwood Funeral Homes and Cremation has appointed Tim Brown – as manager at the funeral homes’ Greenwood Chapel and Eric Alford to head oversight at the Mount Olivet Chapel. Both Brown and Alford are longtime funeral directors and Greenwood employees.

Joining Brown as assistant manager is Jim Ortner. Teaming with Alford as the new assistant manager at Mount Olivet is experienced funeral director Jim Turkington.

HEALTH CARE

Texas Retina Associates has added ophthalmologist and retina specialist Andrew J. McClellan to its practice. McClellan specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of macular degeneration, retinal tears and detachment, diabetic retinopathy and macular holes. He will serve patients in Texas Retina Associates’ Fort Worth, Wichita Falls and Grapevine offices. McClellan formerly was at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, where he completed both his fellowship and residency training.

MEDIA

Nathan Peoples is the new president of Jim Austin Online. He was formerly a commercial real estate agent with the Austin Company and previously was director of technology for a military organization in the Washington, D.C., area.

Mariah Delavega has been hired as the executive assistant to the president of Jim Austin Online. Leslie Mahaffey is the new director of social media marketing for Jim Austin Online.

Glenn Kimball has joined ECi Software Solutions as chief information officer.
